Fantastic read! This one will have you laughing, crying, screaming and falling in love all at once. This author is new to me, but OMG she was so great that I definitely intend to check out some of her other books! The story flowed seamlessly and you couldn’t help but fall in love with every single character.
The two main characters Marley and Porter have a past, one neither want to talk about. They haven’t seen each other in years, the last time was when he left her at her most vulnerable. He is practically family and the best friend of her brother. Is their relationship off limits. He wants her, she hates him but could she possibly still love him? You have to read it to find out!
Growing up the family took numerous road trips. It was their thing, a most prized possession. Memories were made and a love that bonded them tightly, that is until their mother falls ill and passes away. Marley eventually moves on and out on her own becoming a successful beauty blogger. She has put Porter and the road trips behind her.
Marley’s older brother Paul is getting married and he wants one more road trip before he ties the knot. So her dad and Paul whisk her away in a ratty old camper and hilarity ensues. One thing after another happens to this poor girl, you can’t help but laugh and fall in love with her even more with every page. She definitely has spunk! They are the typical brother and sister, constantly pulling pranks on each other.
Paul is crazy, feminine, has a “man stink” lol (her words) and is a brother anyone would love to have.
Porter is sexy and comes off as a jerk at first but you will warm up to him! He is unsure of himself at times but his sense of humor is great! His love, even when not spoken, is never-ending for Marley and it is super adorable!
Their dad Bernie is hilarious and curses using president’s names. How adorable is that? He is sweet but fierce and all 3 of them fear his wrath!
The best part of the story is the fact that the author brings in things that are real. The iconic stops they make along Route 66 are real and that makes the story so much more fun. Almost believable really. I loved the history the characters had, they had all experienced the loss of the mother deeply and you could feel that in the way the characters described her.
The love story that comes from this book is funny, love-able and realistic. I loved this entire book, the story, the history, the iconic stops, the family dynamics, EVERYTHING. It was perfect in every way imaginable and I can not wait to read more from her. I really hope there eventually becomes a sequel to this book! I love Marley and Porter! 🙂
