“I’ll Push You” ~Patrick Gray and Justin Skeesuck~ Review

Two best friends, 500 miles, one wheelchair, and the challenge of a lifetime.
Friendship takes on new meaning in this true story of Justin and Patrick, born less than two days apart in the same hospital. Best friends their whole lives, they grew up together, went to school together, and were best man in each other’s weddings. When Justin was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease that robbed him of the use of his arms and legs, Patrick was there, helping to feed and care for him in ways he’d never imagined. Determined to live life to the fullest, the friends refused to give into despair or let physical limitations control what was possible for Justin.

So when Justin heard about the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile trek through Spain, he wondered aloud to Patrick whether the two of them could ever do it. Patrick’s immediate response was: “I’ll push you.”

I’ll Push You is the real-life story of this incredible journey. A travel adventure full of love, humor, and spiritual truth, it exemplifies what every friendship is meant to be and shows what it means to never find yourself alone. You’ll discover how love and faith can push past all limits—and make us the best versions of ourselves.

I typically don’t reach for documentary-style books when I peruse the library shelves but I was given the opportunity to read this book and I was highly inspired and I enjoyed every page. The story of these two men was inspiring… it was uplifting…I cried, I laughed and I cheered them on through their journey. It was a fantastic read.

It is one of those books that once you start you just can’t stop. It is a page turner and it will change your life. It is a reminder to have faith, it is a reminder to lay all your cards on the table with the ones you love and it is a reminder to look beyond the hardships. Life is hard, life can knock you down but how will you handle it?

Not everyone would be able to handle the cards that Justin was dealt. It is a matter of having faith in a higher power, it is relinquishing everything to others just to make it day to day.  You can’t help but feel bad for Justin, his neuromuscular disease taking so much from him, but he is a FIGHTER! He is a man that doesn’t give up even despite the hardships that face him, he finds a way to persevere. He has the best support system anyone could ever ask for. The outlook on life that he has is impressive! It is hard to believe how far they came and how much they accomplished together.

Their journey across Spain was amazing and the way that it was written made me feel like I was there with them, through every rock, bump and mud puddle! After reading this book and seeing what they experienced and the friends they made it makes me want to put this trek (Camino de Santiago) on my bucket list! I would love to travel there and go through the same journey they did! It was an amazing journey and you should go along for the ride!

Truly an amazing story that you should check out ASAP!!!!! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book (again, not a documentary fan) BUT it is so much more that that! It is a testament to living life to the fullest and taking the bull by the horns (literally!) So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go find this book (buy links below) and read it, once you read it pass it on! Everyone needs to read this book!!!!!!!!

“The Old Man and the Princess” ~Sean Paul Thomas~ Review

An eccentric old Irish man, who claims to be ‘not of this Earth,’ kidnaps Sersha, a young, headstrong, Irish girl, from the streets of Galway and tries to convince her that her life’s destiny is tied to a mystical cave in the Scottish highlands.

But with half of the Irish criminal underworld violently on their trail, Sersha, struggles back and forth with the old man’s real identity and far fetched intentions to whether he truly is genuine in his wild and fantastical beliefs. Or is he really just a mad, demented, old fool, having some kind of mental breakdown in his twilight years.

Sean is an author from Edinburgh in Scotland. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years growing up on the move with his Scottish and Irish Parents (No they weren’t bank robbers 😉 in the likes of Cyprus, Germany, Wales and England, as an army brat.

With a keen interest in both reading and writing he was diagnosed with the travel and writing bugs very early on in life. Now, writing, traveling, reading, cinema and Scottish football are his main passions in life, along with cooking, yoga, meditation and health and fitness.

His main inspiration for writing today comes from living in such a beautiful, charming and hauntingly, Gothic city, such as Edinburgh. This awe inspiring wee city has given Sean so much amazing inspiration to write the more time he spends there.

At this moment Sean is working on a couple of screenplays adaptations of his books and a new, dark, apocalyptic thriller novel that should be out in the late summer of 2017.

So far he has two published works of fiction

The Universe Doesn’t Do Second Chances and Cafe Independence.

And 8 self published novels.

The Old Man and The Princess, it sounds like something straight out of a fairytale…. Does the old man turn into a Prince, is their a frog involved…lol these were my initial questions when I first seen the title. Boy was I wrong! It was a very different book, one full of a ton of surprises.

Sersha is an orphaned 15 year old girl roaming the streets of Galway, Ireland. She ends up being kidnapped by a very eccentric older man named Derek. He’s a little crazy but he could possibly hold the secrets to her past. He makes her believe she is a princess from a far off planet that they can only reach by traveling to Scotland.

Creepy, right?!? I couldn’t ever decide how I felt about Derek, on the one hand he comes off as a super creeper, but then again I always felt like he was hiding something. Sersha, decides to believe him, hoping for the answers. Maybe she is truly a princess? Maybe she can finally find out about her birth parents. Sersha is a fascinating character that you can’t help but feel sorry for. She has spent her life in and out of different foster homes and has never had anyone who cared.

After awhile the Irish mob start to chase after them, but why?!?!?! Why would they care about an orphan and a crazy old man? Is there something more, is the old man right? Well I just had to find out so I read this book through within two days, which is nothing short of a miracle with 3 kids always badgering me lol. BUT, I will not spoil the ending of this book for you because it is a magical experience that you have to indulge in for yourself from start to finish. This author has an amazing way with words and he takes you to a whole different world (I’d love to visit Ireland!). He takes you on a wild ride through a million questions, only to land on the final truth in the end. It is something you have to experience for yourself! Love love loved this book! I will definitely be keeping this in my read again book stack!

Please please please do yourself a favor and pick up this fantastic book as soon as you can! You can find buy link below! 🙂

“Waking Lazarus” ~DJ Williams~ Review

Waking Lazarus Receives Oscar Winner Endorsement!

“A captivating visual story with a colorful narrative. Once I started reading, it was hard to put down.” Peter Anderson, Oscar Winner, Cinematographer

Jake Harris’ life hasn’t turned out the way he planned. Battling his addictions, and the shattered pieces of his family, he is hired to ghostwrite a memoir. From the 1920’s story of a controversial evangelist, to the present day mystery of a former District Attorney, everything changes when his search for the truth leads to an atrocity hidden from history. With a past he can’t remember, he begins to discover that he is not the person he believed himself to be. Rather, he is a threat to a secret society that has remained in the shadows for nearly a century. Jake is drawn deep inside a world he never knew existed that brings him closer to his own extraordinary destiny.

With the DNA of a world traveler, D.J. Williams was born and raised in Hong Kong, has ventured into the jungles of the Amazon, the bush of Africa, and the slums of the Far East. His global travels have engrossed him in a myriad of cultures, and provided him with a unique perspective that has fueled his creativity over the course of an eighteen year career in both the entertainment industry and nonprofit sector. His debut novel, The Disillusioned, has garnered praise from Hollywood’s elite such as Judith McCreary, Co-Executive Producer, Law & Order: SVU, Criminal Minds, & CSI, who said, “The Disillusioned is a fast-paced mystery…you won’t put it down until you’ve unlocked the secrets and lies to find the truth.” Currently based out of Los Angeles, Williams continues to add to his producing and directing credits of more than 300 episodes of broadcast TV syndicated worldwide by developing new projects for television, film and print.

I sure do love a good mystery! This book is a FANTASTIC mystery! It reminds me of something out of the Davinci Code! It is history, yet it’s present, and it keeps you on this winding road until you finish the last page. You might think that sounds terrible, but this author has a way with words that makes it not only easy to read but keeps you engrossed without getting you confused.

Seriously an amazing adventure of one man fighting many odds. This is a second book in a series but I read it without knowledge of the first book and I did not have any problems keeping up with the story. It has some much in it! It is seriously full of surprises. Jake is the main man in the story and he is one of those characters you can’t help but like. He has so much going on his life between battling addictions and family issues. But he perseveres and he takes us on a wild ride through history and self discovery as he finds secrets he never even knew existed.

This is one of the best thriller mystery books I have read in a long time and I will definitely be looking up more books by this author. Great detail and description, the characters stood out and it kept me interested throughout the entire book. If you are looking for a little mystery go find this book! Even without reading the first book in the series The Disillusioned, I would still recommend this series! Excellent author!

“Can’t Help Falling In Love” ~Cynthia Roberts~ Review!

Life has a way of coming back around full circle even, if it takes a decade to do so. Stephen Logan, returns home to the community of his youth, as a successful Aerospace Engineer for NASA. Jennifer Moore, finds herself the first-grade teacher, to his adorable son, Joshua.

From the moment they are reunited, they secretly can’t deny that the strong attraction they once felt for each other as high school sweethearts, still runs deep. Stephen’s past proves a haunting one. Even though Joshua’s mother signed off on her legal rights as a parent when he was just a baby, she chooses a path of self-destruction & lawlessness, instead of the fame she left to find.

When Karen Eastwood learns of Stephen’s success, she hunts him down & threatens to make his life miserable, if he does not bend to her will. Eventually, she kidnaps her son along with his teacher. Jennifer’s love for Steven and his son, gives her the strength to outsmart the psychopath, holding them hostage, and her cunning efforts leads the police to find them, just in the nick of time.

My love of reading romance fiction goes back to those early years when I was raising a

young family. It wasn’t until much later in life I actually took up the pen to write. I wish I

could have gotten to this point in my career much sooner rather than later but, life

simply got in the way far too many times. I know because of those detours I have become

a more passionate and expressive writer because I can draw upon those painful

moments in my past when I need to create the kind of raw human emotion I want my

readership to feel. My wish is that my readers walk away with not just an entertaining

read but the importance in knowing, “Without imagination & dreams, we lose the

excitement of wonderful possibilities.” PLEASE leave a review to help others discover my

work. I would be so very appreciative.

Wow! Just when I think I’ve read her best work yet, she surprises me with yet another spectacular read. All of her books in the Love Song Standards Series have been fantastic and this one does not disappoint! It is fast paced, it is romantic and it is a book that keeps you coming back for more. Jennifer and Stephen are high school sweethearts who are separated by time and space, each going a different direction after high school. Once Stephen returns to his hometown after years of being gone he finds that he still has feelings for Jennifer, and she realizes she never stopped loving him! It’s uplifting and there is so much emotion  between them that you can’t help but fall in love with both of them!

Joshua, the son of Stephen has wiggled his way into Jennifer’s heart and the little threesome is the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. But danger is lurking nearby. Karen, the ex-wife, is a psychotic drug addict that comes after Stephen only to make his life miserable. It is a heart-pounding thrill ride when she kidnaps Joshua and Jennifer…. Will they make it? Can they escape from the clutches of the psychotic ex?? Jennifer will do anything in her power to keep Joshua safe, but is it enough????

Well you have to read it to find out! You will not regret it! Great character development and it flows so quickly that you will be done with it before you realize it! Such a great book! It definitely kept me on my toes! It’s a great love story but with a crazy twist. It’s a must read!!!!!

“Turtles in the Road” ~Rhonda Rhea & Kaley Rhea~ Review

Sometimes a detour takes you exactly where you need to be.

Piper Cope was so sure the Lord called her to be a pastor’s wife. So when her pastor/fiancé breaks it off, she’s every kind of puzzled. Does God even have a purpose for her anymore? On the road halfway between the bridges she’s burned and some kind of new start, she encounters the most unexpected detour. She swerves on a rainy road to miss a turtle and ends up in a ditch with an airbag to the face. Now stuck in this little town, she wonders how in the world she could’ve gotten her God-signals so very crossed. And how in the world is she supposed to know what He wants her to do now? In the meantime, at least the community center guy, Jay Marler, has her working a temporary job there. Problem is, somehow she’s coaching a children’s basketball team. She does not…basketball. And she certainly does not children.

Mother/daughter writing duo, Rhonda Rhea and Kaley Rhea, are TV personalities for Christian Television Network’s KNLJ. Rhonda is also a nationally-known speaker, humor columnist and author of 11 other books, including Fix-Her-Upper, a soon-releasing nonfiction project coauthored with Beth Duewel. Rhonda is married to her pastor/husband, Richie Rhea, and they have five grown children. Kaley and Rhonda both live in the St. Louis area.

Such a great book! First of all that cover is amazing! It really catches your attention and lets face it, I am a turtle fanatic! This book is so cool just for the main fact that it is written by a mother and her daughter! Such a cool adventure to be on with a loved one, so neat! ❤

This is a fantastic read and if you haven’t gotten your hands on this, you should do so right away!!!!!! The story has a great main character and a great underlying message~~trust God, sometimes he takes us right where we need to be even if we don’t understand the journey!~~

Piper, our lovely main character, definitely has had her world turned upside down! She is so sure of her future (like so many of us), but sometimes things happen and we panic. We feel like we are gonna lose it, just to realize that God has had our back through the whole thing. Piper is adorable and loveable and I totally get her. I love this story, it is one that will suck you in and you can’t help but fly through it! I read this book within a day! I loved it so much and I think you will too! GO, GO right now and buy it! You will not regret it!!!!
