For Scarlet, raising her two daughters alone means fighting for tomorrow is an everyday battle. Nathan has a wife, but can’t remember what it’s like to be in love; only his young daughter Zoe makes coming home worthwhile. Miranda’s biggest concern is whether her new VW Bug is big enough to carry her sister and their boyfriends on a weekend escape from college finals.
When reports of a widespread, deadly “outbreak” begin to surface, these ordinary people face extraordinary circumstances and suddenly their fates are intertwined. Recognizing they can’t outrun the danger, Scarlet, Nathan, and Miranda desperately seek shelter at the same secluded ranch, Red Hill. Emotions run high while old and new relationships are tested in the face of a terrifying enemy—an enemy who no longer remembers what it’s like to be human.
Set against the backdrop of a brilliantly realized apocalyptic world, love somehow finds a way to survive. But what happens when the one you’d die for becomes the one who could destroy you?
Red Hill grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go until its stunning conclusion. This is #1 New York Times bestselling author Jamie McGuire at her unforgettable best.

This was the first book that I have ever read by Jamie McGuire. I was moseying through our library and this cover caught my eye! I know, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. But I did. And I am not sorry in the very least! It’s fantastic, it’s zombies, it’s a thriller and a crazy mystery!
Love zombies? Yea, I do! Who’s with me?!? Raise your hands!! This is the book for you! Scarlett is a nurse at a busy hospital when all hell breaks loose. She just dropped off her kids with her good for nothing ex husband. What is she to do? What would you do? I don’t know if I could be as brave as she was fighting her way to find her two daughters.
This was a roller coaster ride of emotions and of course zombies. Will she make it? Will she get to see her daughters again?!? With the world falling down around her, who knows what is going to happen. She has seen things no one wants to see, and her young daughters are out on their own. It is such a real, believable story. It makes it even better when they mention certain towns in it, because well I grew up around that area. So it makes it even more believable in my brain for me because I see those places, I know what she is talking about. It’s a fantastic trip and you must go read it now!
There are so many things going on in the story but all of the characters have survival on the brain and you can’t help but root for them all. You can’t help but cry over the loss like its your own. You get sucked in and it holds onto you til you finish every single word. I read this within 8 hours and I don’t regret it! 🙂 It’s an amazing tale of love, loss, suffering and survival. It reminds me a lot of the Walking Dead series, so if you like that show then this is the book for you! 😉
Loved it very much and can’t wait to read her small novellas that follow this book. I jumped for joy the day I realized there were other books that go along with this story! 🙂
Go read it! 🙂
