This volume of books follows the journey of a group of kids as they strive to rise to the top and become members of the Magician’s Workshop. Layauna desperately wants to create beautiful things with her magical powers, but all she can seem to do is make horrible, savage monsters. Kai just wants to use his powers to have fun and play with his friends. Unfortunately, nearly everyone on his island sees him as a bad influence, so he’s forced to meet them in secret. When one of the creatures they create gets out of control and starts flinging fireballs at their town, Kai is tempted to believe that he is as nefarious as people say. However, his prospects change when two mysterious visitors arrive, praising his ability and making extraordinary promises about his future. Follow the adventures of Kai, Layauna, and a boatload of other characters as they struggle to grow up well in this fantastical world.

Author BIO

CHRISTOPHER HANSEN The first glimmering Chris Hansen had that there was far more to reality than he had ever imagined occurred six days after his ninth birthday. “Christopher!” cried a wise, old sage. “Life is full of deep magic. Miraculous things happen all the time and all around us, if you know where to look for them.” Full of expectation and childlike optimism, Chris began searching for this magic, prepared to be surprised and amazed by it. And he was: he found Wonder! Now he’s chosen to write stories about it.

When J.R. Fehr popped out of the womb, he knew there was more to the world than the four boring hospital walls that he was seeing. “Zango!” his newborn mind exclaimed as he saw people appear and disappear through a mysterious portal in the wall. As a child he found life wowtazzling, but as he grew older the cold water of reality hit him, and the magic he once knew vanished. After spending some wet and shivering years lost in a joyless wasteland, he once again began to see magic in the world. He writes because the Wonder of true life is far grander than anything he ever thought possible. J.R. FEHR

“Hissy Fit” ~Mary Kay Andrews~ Review

Whether it’s a mystery, sassy women’s fiction, or a combination of the two, New York Times bestseller Mary Kay Andrews always gives her fans a read to remember. And now she’s throwing a Hissy Fit, in the best possible sense. A delicious tale of revenge and renovation, Hissy Fit tells of a wronged spitfire who’s determined to see that the no-good lowdown, lying, cheating varmint of an ex-fiancé who ruined her life and her business gets the comeuppance he so richly deserves…even as she struggles to revitalize a broken-down antebellum mansion for a hunky, if slightly odd, local businessman. If you like the novels of Fannie Flagg, Jennifer Crusie, Adriana Trigiani, and Emily Giffin, or are a devoted follower of Rebecca Wells or Jill Conner Browne’s Sweet Potato Queens, then Mary Kay’s Hissy Fit is not to be missed.

Mary Kay Andrews is the New York Times bestselling author of the novels Beach Town, Save the Date, Christmas Bliss, Ladies’ Night, Spring Fever, and Summer Rental, all from St. Martin’s Press, as well as Savannah Breeze, Blue Christmas Hissy Fit, Little Bitty Lies and Savannah Blues, all HarperPerennial. On May 17, 2016, St. Martin’s Press will release her 24th novel, THE WEEKENDERS

A former reporter for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, she wrote ten critically acclaimed mysteries, including the Callahan Garrity mystery series, originally under her real name, Kathy Hogan Trocheck. The Callahan mysteries have recently been re-released by HarperPerennial, as Mary Kay Andrews writing as Kathy Hogan Trocheck.

A native of St. Petersburg, FL (and a diplomate of the Maas Bros. Department Store School of Charm), she started her professional journalism career in Savannah, GA, where she covered the real-life murder trials which were the basis of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

As a lifelong “junker” the author claims to know the location of every promising thrift store, flea market and junkpile in the southeastern United States, plus many parts of Ohio.

She has a B.A. in newspaper journalism from The University of Georgia (go Dawgs!), and is a frequent lecturer and writing teacher at workshops and book festivals.

Married to her high school sweetheart, she is the mother of two grown children and a proud grandmother. When not on book tour, she divides her time between Atlanta and her two beach cottages on Tybee Island GA.

Great book! It is tale of a very spirited woman who ultimately gets revenge on her conniving, cheating ex-fiance. Keeley Murdock is a force to be reckoned with and you can’t help but feel sorry for her! But then she pulls herself together and completes a design job beyond all others! She believes in herself and she doesn’t let her cheating ex’s family get the best of her and her family business. They might try to hold her down, but nothing can stop her!

Despite being the talk of the town she finds out who her true friends are and becomes friends with an unlikely man new to the town. She proves to everyone that she can do anything even with some many people against her. It is full of hilariousness and is a true testament to the independent woman!

The entire book had me rooting for Keeley and hoping her life would turn around! Great writing and a wonderful story! It definitely will keep you guessing to the end, but you will not be disappointed once you get there! I really enjoy this author, I will definitely be checking out some more of her books if I ever get time! 🙂

“Rise” ~Cara Brookins~ Review

If you were inspired by Wild and Eat, Pray, Love, you’ll love this extraordinary true story of a woman taking the greatest risk of her life in order to heal from the unthinkable.

After escaping an abusive marriage, Cara Brookins had four children to provide for and no one to turn to but herself. In desperate need of a home but without the means to buy one, she did something incredible.

Equipped only with YouTube instructional videos, a small bank loan and a mile-wide stubborn streak, Cara built her own house from the foundation up with a work crew made up of her four children.

It would be the hardest thing she had ever done. With no experience nailing together anything bigger than a bookshelf, she and her kids poured concrete, framed the walls and laid bricks for their two story, five bedroom house. She had convinced herself that if they could build a house, they could rebuild their broken family.

This must-read memoir traces one family’s rise from battered victims to stronger, better versions of themselves, all through one extraordinary do-it-yourself project

Cara Brookins is a computer analyst and social media marketing expert based in Little Rock. You can read more about her, as well as see shots of her home and family at http://www.carabrookins.com/. Her memoir, Rise: How a House Built a Family details the house she built with her children after they had left a domestic violence situation. She is also the author of seven middle grade and young adult novels and one adult novel.

Amazing book! So uplifting and an amazing story of a woman who against all odds was able to do something incredible for her children. She went above and beyond for her 4 kids. Coming from a broken and abusive home, Cara did whatever it took to provide for her kids. She sacrificed and they all worked hard as a family to build their cute little house. She proves to us all that even when we are broken we can still be fixed. We can move on and have a better life!

It is amazing the perseverance that Cara had! I don’t think I could build a house by using YouTube and relying on my kids for help. Her kids are amazing and so strong! They worked so hard and helped their mom so much!  It’s a fascinating  story and seriously so much hard work went into building there house. I tried imaging what it would be like if my family built a house in that manner, and I just couldn’t! They had so much faith in their mom and in each other! Such an amazing story! They overcame so much and ignored the criticism from numerous people throughout the whole building process. It is ridiculous how some of those people treated her, tried to make her feel like she was incompetent and could not build and finish a her dream house on her own. Then again there were those great strangers she happened upon in the most random places that offered help and guidance.

It is truly amazing what you can do once you really put your mind to it and Cara is a true inspiration! Her journey through a broken marriage and family and ending up with a happy home for herself and children is truly amazing! If you need a great feel good story this is the one for you! Definitely check it out!! 🙂 🙂

“Redeeming Grace~ Ruth’s Story”~Jill Eileen Smith~ Review!

When famine visits Bethlehem, Boaz holds out hope for rain while his relative Elimelech moves his wife Naomi and their sons to Moab. For a while, it appears the Lord is blessing Elimelech’s family, and his sons marry two lovely Moabite women. But calamities strike, one after another, leaving Naomi alone in a foreign land with only her childless daughters-in-law for comfort. When news reaches Naomi that the famine in Bethlehem has lifted, only Ruth will hazard the journey to her mother-in-law’s homeland. Destitute and downhearted, Naomi resigns herself to a life of bitter poverty, but Ruth holds out hope for a better future. And Boaz may be the one God has chosen to provide it.

Combining meticulous research with her endless imagination, Jill Eileen Smith gorgeously renders one of the most beautiful stories in Scripture. Readers will adore this third installment of the inspiring Daughters of the Promised Land series.

Jill Eileen Smith is the bestselling author of The Crimson Cord, The Prophetess, The Wives of King David series, the Wives of the Patriarchs series, and the ebook novellas The Desert Princess, The Shepherdess, and Daughter of the Nile. Her research into the lives of biblical women has taken her from the Bible to Israel, and she particularly enjoys learning how women lived in Old Testament times. Jill lives with her family in southeast Michigan. Learn more at http://www.jilleileensmith.com.

The story of Ruth has always been one of my favorites. I have enjoyed other novels based on her story and they have all been equally tremendous. It is hard to read a novel that is similar to what you have read before but different in so many ways. I found myself comparing this book to others I have read in the past and that was completely unfair of me. This is book is amazing. It tells the story in great detail and makes your heart ache for Ruth and Naomi.

This is a tale of loss, enduring love and redemption. In this version we find out so much more about Boaz and his late wife Adi, the reasons why Naomi and her family left Bethlehem and so much more. This book is full of so much. It has you rooting for the famine to end, it has your heart breaking when Naomi not only loses her husband but her sons as well. But it in the end she is full, she is happy and she has everything she could possibly want.

It is an amazing story if you haven’t read or heard the bible story of Ruth, sorry for the spoilers! But you need to go read it now! 🙂 Or read this book!!! The book of Ruth is an uplifting story that has to be read!!! So go….go on now… and read it! 🙂

I was given this book by Revell Publishing for a fair and honest review!

Go find it now!
