Review of Revlon Colorstay Brow Mousse

MVIMG_20171114_114552.jpg

YAY I finally got my makeup to review!!

So I received this product from Crowdtap to be reviewed. I was pretty excited about it because I have very small eyebrows. (thank goodness that I have never had to pluck or wax lol) Usually I use a light brown eye liner on my brows followed by a tad bit of foundation powder. So to say I was excited is an understatement.

So here I am all giddy about a new makeup product to only find out that its complete crap. I got it out of the container and it has a twisty thing on the bottom of it to make the color come out.

IMG_20171114_135702

Twisty end 😦

So I twisted……..and twisted………..and twisted and nothing….I thought maybe I had received a defective product. But then on maybe the 10th spin of the little thing a bunch starts to come out!

SOOOO I wipe off the mess and start again. This time it actually comes out a tiny bit with one rotation!

IMG_20171114_134625

The goop!

Ok so here I am back to being excited! Rub….rub….rub of the little applicator tip across my almost nonexistent eyebrow and nothing…. you have to hold it at several different angles to be able to get the color cream onto your eyebrow hair.

So finally I’m getting it good and then it starts to get kinda clumpy and a few tiny little almost dried out pieces start to fall off of my brows!!! AND at this point the skin on my eyebrows is hurting and raw!

IMG_20171114_134558

Super prickliness!

The applicator is a very hard bristle applicator. One that you would typically find on a mascara wand. It would be perfect for mascara but not eyebrows lol! The color really is beautiful and it goes well with fair skin which is what I have, but it is not worth the damn hassle! Go buy an eyebrow pencil it would be money better spent than on this wand!

Pretty Brown color! That’s the only good thing about this product!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

“The Fifth Petal” ~Brunonia Berry~ Review

Synopsis:

Could a witch hunt happen again in Salem?

For readers of Deborah Harkness’s A Discovery of WitchesNew York Times bestselling author of The Lace Reader Brunonia Barry returns to Salem with this spellbinding new thriller, a complex brew of suspense, seduction and murder.

When a teenage boy dies suspiciously on Halloween night, Salem’s chief of police, John Rafferty, wonders if there is a connection between his death and Salem’s most notorious cold case, a triple homicide dubbed “The Goddess Murders,” in which three young women, all descended from accused Salem witches, were slashed on Halloween night in 1989. He finds unexpected help in Callie Cahill, the daughter of one of the victims newly returned to town. Neither believes that the main suspect, Rose Whelan, respected local historian, is guilty of murder or witchcraft.

But exonerating Rose might mean crossing paths with a dangerous force. Were the women victims of an all-too-human vengeance, or was the devil raised in Salem that night? And if they cannot discover what truly happened, will evil rise again?

Review:

This book had me intrigued! This cover is gorgeous and it has a great synopsis! I am also a sucker for anything historically related to the Salem witch trials. I also received this book right after Halloween so I was already in that spooky mood lol!

I had a hard time with this book though, there were a lot of characters and a whole lot of history that the author puts into this book. I found myself stumbling over several passages throughout the book because I had to stop and think about who that specific person was. There were A LOT of characters, which makes it hard to keep interested in the book.

The premise of the story is fantastic and it was a good read… but the amount of characters really killed it for me. AND they flip flop back and forth between present and the past. I know that is part of the story but it really makes it hard to concentrate on where the story is going. I do love the main characters, I think they are integral to the whole story but they get lost in the sea of other characters. The tell a side story of one of the main characters Rafferty (the police chief), which they could have completely done without and it still would have been a good story.

I liked this book  but it is not one that I will recommend. I think the author just tried to add too much into the story and it got a bit jumbled. Good story but not great execution.

“The Outpost” ~Devney Perry~ Review!!

Cover

Synopis:

Trapped in his tiny mountain cabin, she didn’t expect to fall for his big heart.

Exposing a prominent criminal family with an investigative news report didn’t exactly work out the way Sabrina had hoped. Instead of basking in the glory of her article’s success, she’s on the run from a powerful man who wants her dead. To stay safe, she’s forced to trade one bad situation for another. Stuck in the Montana wilderness, she’s secluded from anything resembling civilization or the modern-day world. The only good thing about her situation is the gorgeous mountain man assigned to protect her. Too bad he isn’t the slightest bit interested in a city girl like her.

Beau likes his life quiet and simple. Give him a peaceful day hiking in the woods with his dog, and he’s a happy man. He has no use for large crowds, noisy cities or dramatic women. So when a hotshot reporter rolls into town, dragging her big-time problems with her, he should have run for the hills. Instead, he volunteered to keep her safe. Bringing her into his world won’t be easy, but if he can convince her that Montana isn’t as terrifying as she believes, they might just be the perfect match.

Author:

She loves reading and, after consuming hundreds of books, decided to share her own stories.

Review:

This a fantastic book! It is the 4th book in the Jamison Valley series, but you do not have to read the prior books to understand this book! It is a standalone book! I have not read the others in the series but I plan to read them post-haste! This is one of the best books that I have ever read!! It grabs your attention from the very first page and holds it til the very end. It left me wanting more! I can’t wait to read the other books in this series!

The story of Beau and Sabrina is a very unique one. They are such amazing characters!  Sabrina is a fantastic journalist, she puts her career above everything else.  Her career has now gotten her into trouble with the Russian mafia. She is beaten and bruised and barely escapes with her life. Where does she go?? She goes to Montana, to seek refuge with her best friend. Instead she finds refuge with the sexiest piece of outdoorsy man meat she’s ever seen….This sexy piece of man candy is named Beau. AND OMG is he the most drool worthy,  caring, loving man I have ever read about. He is the sweetest thing ever! Seriously he will make you swoon and you will find yourself daydreaming about him and those giant muscles 😉 (I get a THOR vibe lol!!)

I’m not usually a huge fan of this style of books (50 Shades of Grey was the worst book I have ever tried to read) but this book was outstanding! The characters felt real to me, they were emotional and beautiful. Their story is one that I will never forget and I encourage you to read this book. The author has a way with words that I have never seen before. I truly felt like I was in this tiny little town in Montana….I was in that tiny cabin with Sabrina as she worked through her problems….. her sadness, loneliness, anger, happiness and the love that she found with Beau. It is a true piece of art!

This story was truly magical. Not only was it a romance, it was suspenseful. I was not expecting things to happen as they did. But with every twist in the story the outcome was that much more fulfilling! Fantastic read that I hope you will go get a copy of!!! Right now! Go do it!!!

Exclusive Excerpts:

“Bryce,” the producer called from behind the row of cameras. “We’re all set.”

“Thanks.” She waved over the hair and makeup team. My blond hair got fluffed and placed while her skin was dusted and blushed. With both of our lips recolored, we settled in for the interview. The cameraman gave us his countdown and then Bryce did her introduction before turning to me.

“You’ve had quite the year, Sabrina. Just a little over one year ago, you wrote an article for The Seattle Times that shut down the biggest gun-smuggling operation on the upper West Coast. Then you disappeared for six months, only to reemerge as a best-selling romance novelist. You’ve just won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting and I’ve heard that there are talks of making your book into a blockbuster. How does it feel to have reached such success in your career?”

“Thank you. It’s been wonderful, albeit very busy.” I smiled and glanced at my lap to hide the flash of pain that crashed through my heart. Nothing about my successes gave me joy. Talking about my accomplishments just reminded me of how much I had lost.

“You’ve made some major achievements since you came back to Seattle,” Bryce said. “Most journalists, including this one, would kill to be in your position. How does it feel?”

I gave her my rehearsed answer. “It’s been incredible. Surreal, really. I’m still in shock at how much has happened over the last year.”

“I can imagine.” She flipped to a new note card. “Let’s talk more about the article.”

My cheerful face belied my true feelings. I was miserable on this television set. I was exhausted from talking about that damn article. I was done having people fuss over its success.

Everyone thought it was the article that had changed my life.

It wasn’t.

It had been the six months I’d spent in Montana.

It had been the six months I’d spent with him.
