The mommy flu?

We all know about the man flu.

You know the time when your husband is dying because of a simple stuffy nose?

Yea.. The man flu.. They are at death’s door and can’t. move. a. muscle or they might not live to see…… another……. second.

Well I am 100% positive their should be a thing called the MOM FLU. This doesn’t have to mean you have the flu. This means that anytime you are sick as aΒ  mom you still get shit done.

I don’t know how many times I have been sick and still had to take care of kids or continue to work or transport my boys wherever they need to go.

The good thing is most of the time I have help from my husband but he works over an hour away and sometimes isn’t around when I get sick (luckily, I don’t get sick often).

So here I am fighting off some viral crap that my 10 year old gave me and I’m driving them to a Cubscout meeting. Where I am the leader. Then I have yoga afterwards. No time for dinner or a sniffly nose or a cough.

Shit has to get done and no one can take my place and do those jobs for me.

I am woman, hear me cough… I mean roar… I am dragging ass but I still am fulfilling my commitments not only as a scout leader, yoga instructor, and para but also as a parent.’s not a bad thing. We are rockstars!

Yes, I should probably be resting… I can hear you picky germaphobes all the way across the internet… I shouldn’t be exposing other people to this junk, whatever it might be.

But I have a job to do and things that have to get done.

So pardon my sickly, probably incoherent rant but I just want to say kudos to all those moms out there that are killing it day by day, rain or shine,Β  in sickness and in health! πŸ™‚ You guys are the true rockstars!!

What happens when you are sick? Do you have help? Backup?

How do you take care of yourself and your family during this time? I would love to know! πŸ™‚

Found this gem of a meme on google! It is so true! Mom’s are the best things out there, we take care of everyone!

21 Day Blogging Challenge: Our Christmas Adventures

We don’t travel often but when we do we always to try to do something that is super fun and we try to stay for at least a week wherever we go. This year we ended up in Colorado and Wyoming to visit family over the summer. I assumed those places would be cooler than what they were. In my mind it should be like 70* for the high. It was HOT! I was so disappointed, it was hot and sweaty and gross. To top it all off there was no wildlife whatsoever! We had fun but I was so disappointed in the weather and lack of wildlife that I did not want to ever go back lol!

When my mother approached me about renting a cabin for Christmas in Colorado I was hesitant. Colorado? Again? That was literally my answer to her. I was trying to be positive that Colorado would be fantastic in the winter but I did not want to go! So I put on a brave face and agreed to the trip. So here we are in Estes Park, Colorado….

I don’t regret it! The day after we got here it snowed! We don’t get much snow where we are from, so my kids were super excited! πŸ™‚ It was a fun adventure into the Rocky Mountain National Park and shopping in town! I will continue to share our adventures this week for Christmas! It’s going to be a whirlwind but it has definitely changed my perspective on the state of Colorado lol!

I definitely recommend going to the Rocky Mountain National Park if you ever get a chance to go!

Blog Challenge from

What hot toys are your kids asking for this year?

My kids watch YouTube videos whenever they are given time on their Ipads (which isn’t often lol). They are obsessed with the toy destruction videos or the unwrapping of toys… super boring right? My kids are making those YouTube kids millions of dollars (Ryan’s Toys Review). I want that kind of job lol, make millions videoing my kids unwrapping toys and playing with them? Yes, please!

Anyways, they are always asking throughout the year for whatever new toy those kids are playing with. I’m not sure what you played with when you were kids but some of the junk they ask for is insane. Toys are definitely not what they used to be. Let’s get real here, I still own several of my childhood toys and guess what? They are still in perfect shape after years of being played with and my kids now play with those toys and they don’t break. I bought a Buzz Lghtyear a couple years ago for my youngest and within two days the damn thing had quit working. Um, seriously? A $50 toy that works for less than 48 hours.

I’m that mom that refused to buy fidget spinners for my kids (boo on me, I know).

I’m also the mom that refuses to buy gadgets that are crazy expensive or things that make my kids lazy. (hover boards, the latest video games, etc.)

I’m also that mom that won’t let my kids play Fortnight or anything else that you have includes an online chatroom. Stranger danger, come on parents.

I’m the mom that gave my kids an Ipad (that we bought super cheap, long story lol) but only let them play with it for 2 hours a week.

In short, I am a mean mom. But I. don’t. freaking. care. Kid’s these days are lazy, ungrateful and don’t know the meaning of go play outside and use your imagination.

Luckily by the time they write their letters to Santa my boys didn’t ask for too crazy of things, they must be learning.Β  πŸ˜‰ I tell them if mom doesn’t approve then I will call Santa and tell him not to bring those toys. (insert maniacal laughter right here) They asked for some video games which is OK but there were a lot of Lego sets and actual fun toys that I don’t mind having Santa put under our tree. My middle son did go a little crazy and asked for $100 cash lol! Me too son, me too. Can Santa bring me cash for Christmas?

I want to hear it! What crazy, craziness did your kiddos ask for this year???

I love the website LoveMatters, they had a great story about a crazy wish list for Christmas! Definitely check it out, you will chuckle! πŸ™‚

Happy shopping parents!

Tis the Season to pretend to be Santa and the Elf on the Shelf!

Isn’t parenting fun?!? πŸ˜‰

Here is my kids’ Christmas lists, they get to start them in November so they have time to add to them before we go writing Santa letters. Santa letters went out yesterday, the perks of living in a small town we have our own Santa mailbox and the kids get return letters. πŸ™‚ (These are just the lists they made, they actually wrote different letters but I forgot to take pictures of them)

Elf on the Shelf is back at it again….

Do you have an Elf on the Shelf? Do you often wish that it would go away permanently. Do you tend to forget said Elf and then wake in a panicked state when you realize you forgot to move the damn thing again?

That was me last year.. I was constantly forgetting to move it and then I would quickly get down stairs before the kids awoke to do something silly with it. There were a few nights that I was actually prepared for it and it turned out awesome. I am way better prepared for it this year, thank you Pinterest.Β  I have actually printed off some letters and pre-cut out items and purchased items for the shenanigans that our little Luigi will be getting into this year.

This year is tough though! We will vacationing in Colorado for a week and the Elf has to go with us. My creative juices are already flowing but if you have any great ideas I would love to see them! πŸ™‚

I would love to see your ELF! πŸ™‚

This is what our little Luigi has been up to so far this year!

More shenanigans to come…..

When do you decorate for Christmas?

When is the appropriate time to decorate for Christmas? Is there such a thing? I know there are those out there that can’t wait to decorate and start listening to Christmas music and then there are others like my brother-in-law that hates any signs of Christmas before December 1st. I call him Mr. Grinch.

My husband tolerates my need to decorate the day of Thanksgiving. It’s a tradition, and one my family has participated in for years. It’s just what we do. This year we are spending the week of Christmas in Colorado, a first for us, and I felt like Christmas needed to come a tad bit early in this house this year. πŸ˜‰

When I say early, I mean I put up and decorated my tree the first week of November. I rationalized it as we won’t be here to enjoy it the week of, so we need to put it up a tad bit earlier than usual lol! He was less than enthused but my boys and I did all of the work, so he wasn’t too angry about it! πŸ™‚

I am always taking down the tree the day after Christmas so all in all it is not a crazy amount of time that we keep up decorations. I know some people that decorate before Thanksgiving and don’t take them down til well after the new year.

When do you put up your tree/decorations? What are your thoughts on putting up decorations early? What is too early? Do you go all out: lights, tree, tinsel, blow-up yard ornaments, etc???

I have always wanted to decorate the outside of our house but we have such an ancient house that the one time we tried it ended up blowing the breaker over and over again! It was an exciting first Christmas in this house. We have since learned our lesson and only do the decorating indoors. I can’t wait for Christmas! It’s my favorite! πŸ™‚

Wishing you a happy Christmas decorating if you haven’t done so yet! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

P.S. We are also super excited that LUIGI our Elf on the Shelf will be making an appearance in a few days!!!

Thanksgiving Preparations :)

Every year I tend to go all out on preparing for our holiday meals. I usually make way too much food and then regret eating it all! There is always so much great food and I am a sucker for great food. This year we are traveling to Thanksgiving and we don’t have to host, YAY! So instead of making a ton of stuff I only have to make a dessert. Well I ended up making several desserts, that’s just who I am lol!

Anyone else love the baking preparations for holidays??? I take this time as a learning experience for my kids and I pass down the cooking/baking knowledge that has been in my family for generations. My mom and grandma passed on their love of the kitchen to me and I hope that my kids will eventually pass it down to their kids. It is the best bonding time and you get yummy food from your time spent!

This year we were in charge of a pumpkin pie and instead of going easy, we used our jack-o-lantern pumpkins we had gotten from the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago (not carved ones). It was a learning experience for us all! But it was so much fun and the final product was amazingΒ (according to everyone else, I hate pumpkin pie). We made the crust from scratch and it turned out great! A win for all of us. πŸ™‚

After we finished with the pumpkin we moved on to my favorite, the apple pie! It is seriously where it’s at people, it was so hard for me to not dive into it right after I pulled it from the oven! It smelled amazing and tasted great! Then of course you can’t have a family get-together without sugar cookies and monster cookies. The kids love to make and eat them!

Ready to get in the oven!

What is on your list of must-have foods for Thanksgiving??

What is Your Thanksgiving Day Traditions?

Most every year we host all of the holidays. We have a giant house with a giant fenced in yard which is great for all of the kiddos. We lucked out this year and we are not hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas! Yay!!! πŸ™‚

My favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting together with our families and reminiscing on days gone by. I love that we can just all get together and spend the entire day eating and laughing. It is a super fun day! We usually use this day to also put our Christmas tree up. I know it’s a tad early, but it has been my family’s tradition for as long as I can remember. This year we put ours up even earlier….oops! πŸ˜‰ You’ll find out why in a future post! πŸ™‚

My favorite food from Thanksgiving is the HAM!!! I am not a fan of turkey and every single turkey I have ever eaten is super dry and gross. I also hate pumpkin pie! Why? I’m not sure, I have never enjoyed the taste of it lol! I know, its un-American! πŸ˜‰ Growing up the parade was always a favorite but we rarely watch it anymore.

Anyone else feel like they just can’t get through the week without something going wrong?!? Yea, that’s been my life this past month. I have kind of flaked on blogging and reviewing because my personal life is C.R.A.Z.Y! Lol! I am a parent of 3 boys as you may know and this is the time of year that every germ possible is passed around. In the past 3 weeks I have had strep and a respiratory virus with a cough that will not end. My kids have had strep, the respiratory virus, and one of them had croup and pneumonia.

I bet you are thinking right now, WOW she’s a terrible mom! Does she not ever give her kids vitamins? Well I do give them vitamins, we use Thieves essential oils daily and they still come home germy and I will tell you why. Public schools are a germ factory. Kids sneeze on other kids, cough without covering there mouths and because of the society we live in these days kids are sent back to school when they are not fully recovered from their sickness. It’s a flawed system and no one is to blame. We all have just been hit hard this year and it’s barely begun. Last year we were lucky enough not to be sick at all (yes, I just knocked on wood).

Besides the sicknesses, we’ve had birthdays, field trips, yoga classes, a winter storm and non stop fights with my husband because he works an hour away and often stays there due to gas prices. I know this sounds like a waahhhhh wahhhh me post but it really isn’t. I am here to say that it’s okay to have an off day, week, month or even a year…. (anyone else here the Friends’ theme song just now lol!!!)

So I just wanted to say to those that actually read my blog and are patiently waiting a review… it is coming! πŸ™‚ I am hopefully back into a better mindset and physically life is about to slow down, even if it is just for this next week. Yay for Thanksgiving Break!!

Namaste my peeps and THANKS SO MUCH for taking the time to read my post! πŸ™‚ If you have any germ killing hacks please help a mother out!

When life gets you down, what do you do?

I have had my fair share of ups and downs, but the good times will always out weigh the bad and I’m thankful for that. Sometimes life just seems to knock you down and things can happen that are out of your control. I by no means have a perfect life. But I have so many people that make my life worthwhile, to me that is a perfect life. Surround yourself with those that find your worth. The ones that see the goodness in you.

Some things have happened in my life recently that make me question every aspect of my life. My trust was betrayed and I was hurt by someone who is very important to me. It’s those times when someone you thought would never hurt you, does. I know people are not perfect creatures and we all make mistakes, but when you trust someone with the love in your heart and they betray that….. It’s like a kick in the gut. It makes you question your worth and your happiness. It makes me wonder if I’m living the life that I should be. Can I do more in my life, was I at fault, where is my life going. You know you think about everything you have ever said or did and question absolutely everything. I hate it lol my mind goes berserk and I can’t sleep!

To get me through a betrayal of trust I called on the three most important people and my life. My mom, my sister and my mother-in-law. They all gave me advice that I cherish and helped me to put things into perspective.

My mother-in-law told me when things get tough you have to look in the mirror and tell yourself, “you are good enough!”. You are the only one in your life that will make you happy. No matter who it is that might have hurt you, betrayed you or just made you not feel good enough. You. Are. Good. Enough. I have prayed a lot. I have thought about forgiveness.. Is it worth having this person in my life if they so callously betray me when the times are tough? I have never felt so confused in my life.

If you have ever been through something like this remember you are good enough and people love you! ❀️ Someone is always there for you. Find someone to talk to. Work it out and do what’s best for you. Sometimes that toxicity is easier to let go of than it is to try fix the situation. If you need someone to talk to, shoot me a message! I’m there for you, even if I don’t know you!

So like any sane adult these days I took to Google and found some funny memes and quotes that just fit the situation to make me feel better. Here they are πŸ‘‡
