“For Once In My Life” ~Cynthia Roberts~ Review

Christina Morandt spent most of her young adult life perfecting her talent and then performing worldwide as the prima ballerina for the Savannah Ballet Theatre. When she decides to retire at the peak of her career, she returns to Savannah to open her own dance studio and settle into a life of comfort and solitude.

Captain Garret Rickford is a seasoned Apache helicopter pilot for the U.S. Army, who is awarded a head instructor position at the Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia after serving four tours carrying out assault and rescue missions over Iraq and Afghanistan. He returns home, while secretly battling the haunting traumas of war and the death of his dearest friend and fellow comrade.

She was raised on a horse ranch in Wyoming. He was raised in the Highlands of Scotland. They were opposites in so many ways, each never expecting to cross paths with the other. But, they did, and when the spark of attraction ignited, there was no extinguishing the passion once it flamed out of control.

My love of reading romance fiction goes back to those early years when I was raising a
young family. It wasn’t until much later in life, that I actually took up the pen to write

This is the third book in the series that I have had the pleasure of reading. Cynthia Roberts definitely knows how to keep your attention and keep you coming back for more. Time after time the book is excellently written, with characters you love and a story that does not disappoint. I was asked to review this series without any previous knowledge of the books or the author but I have not been disappointed in my decision to review at all! The names of the books are what caught my attention, I am a lover of music, so I knew I just had to read these!!! 🙂

Even though it is the third book in the series it can be read as a standalone. It is a fantastic read! If you love romance and a bit of seriousness then these are the books for you! For Once In My Life is a wonderful love story between a retired prima ballerina turned teacher, Christina, and Captain Garret Rickford, an Apache helicopter pilot. A chance meeting in the gorgeous town of Savannah causes sparks to fly between them, igniting possibly something more?

It always amazes me how this author can address real life issues and intertwine them into a wonderful love story. In this story we get a touch of how PTSD can affect the lives of the ones we love. She brings this story to life and enfolds us into these characters lives. She shows us that sometimes life doesn’t go how we have planned. Sometimes we need to let go of what is holding us back and look to the future, so that we can embrace the good things that are to come!

Fantastic read and I definitely recommend this book and all the others in the series to everyone! Please do yourself a favor and go find them! Buy links are below! 🙂 🙂

“Scars of My Past” ~D.C. Renee~ Release Blitz!

My life was one of those teen angst rom-coms where the ugly high
school student transforms herself into the beauty queen.  Except there was
no cute guy helping me along, no series of makeover shots with fun background
music, no scene where I walked into the room and all heads turned to look at me
while wind blew through my hair.  I was the ugly high school student, and I did transform, but it wasn’t all peaches and
Bullied so badly in high school that it ruined my life, I spent my
senior year in therapy.  It was there that I transformed – not just
physically, but mentally as well.  I wanted a fresh start and going to
college across the country was my ticket to that.  It was a whole new
world, and things were great …
… and then came the blast from my past.
And he didn’t recognize me.  What was a girl to do?
Revenge, of course!  My plan was to make him fall for me and then break
his heart.
Sounds simple, right?
Wrong.  If only revenge was black and
… too bad a lot of gray was in the mix.
But one thing was for sure – I needed a way to heal the scars from my
past.  I just hoped I could.

DC Renee is a financial analyst by day, and an indie author by night. She’s been writing since she was a child, from poems to short stories, even fan fictions. She published her first book in March of 2014, and it hit the Amazon top 100 list in Contemporary Romance Fiction several times. Naturally, she loves to read! She also loves spending time with her hubby and their new baby girl, as well as her immediate family (in-laws included!). She speaks Russian fluently, and it might come with the territory, but she loves watching hockey. Go Kings! DC is really thankful for all the support she receives from her family, friends and most of all her readers and fans. She hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoys writing them.

“Whispered Prayers Of A Girl” ~Alex Grayson~ Book Tour!

Her whispered prayers break her…
At night, as she’s drifting off to sleep, I press my ear to the door and listen to her heart wrenching pleas to bring her father back. Her words are agony to my healing heart, but I cherish the sound of them, for that’s the only time I ever hear my beautiful daughter speak. Since her father died two years ago, she’s grown quiet and withdrawn. Catalina’s Valley is to be our new beginning, a place where my family and I can heal, but what we find there is so much more.
Scars mar his body. Pain has darkened his life…
Three years ago, I lost the two things I cherished most in the world. They were ripped from my arms in the most painful and cruel way. Since then, I’ve kept to myself, preferring to stay away from the pitying looks and the uttered rumors. Everything changed when she and her children barged into my life. It was an accident, not meant to happen, but I wonder if maybe it was.
A tortured soul meets a damaged heart…
A lonely man, a widowed woman, a carefree boy, and a broken girl… Can the four come together and help heal each other? Or will fear of the unknown and guilt of the past keep them apart?

Alex Grayson is originally from the south, but has recently moved to Northern Ohio. Although she misses the warmth of Florida and often times detest the cold of Ohio, she absolutely loves living in the north. Her and her husband bought a house on two acres of land and live there with their daughter, son, one dogs, two cats, eight ducks, and three chickens. She hopes to eventually get a couple of goats to add to their country way of living. Besides her family and home, her next best passion is reading. She is often found with her nose obsessively stuck in a book, much to the frustration of her husband and daughter. On more than one occasion Alex found herself wanting a book to go a certain way, but it didn’t. With these thoughts in mind, she decided to start writing stories according to her own visions. Although this is a new endeavor for her, she hopes that readers find her concepts on romance intriguing and captivating. Alex welcomes and encourages feedback, of any kind. “Strangers in the Night” ~Cynthia Roberts~ Review

What happens when two strangers meet in a crowded bar on a Caribbean vacation and one is disinterested, while the other is totally intrigued? Fate happens. Only one role will play out in the end. It will lead to either a happy ending, or simply a chance meeting tucked away in a memory book.

John Rinaldi, doesn’t want to be just a memory. He’s determined to win the heart of the beautiful and elusive, Samantha Michaels. She not only captured his interest, but she proves a woman he’s determined to have in his life forever. She just doesn’t know it yet.

My love of reading romance fiction goes back to those early years when I was raising a young family. It wasn’t until much later in life, that I actually took up the pen to write and my first historical romance, Wind Warrior was born. I don’t fit into one specific genre. When the ideas start to flow, lord only knows what category they’ll fit into **wink wink **

Another great book from Cynthia Roberts! She definitely does not disappoint! Great characters and a beautiful story! Wow! This book had me from the beginning, not only did I fall in love with the characters but being set in the Caribbean made it seem like I was on vacation! A Caribbean vacation?? Yes please! Love story? Yes please! I absolutely love the beach and how cool would that be to find your one true love on a vacation?!?!?!?

This is the second book in the Love Song Standards and it is amazing! The author knows how to grab your attention and keeps you interested throughout the entire book. Samantha and Kathy have just gotten out of bad relationships and are looking for a fresh start. It is a much needed girls vacation for them and they are ready to get away from life. This book gets into the sad reality of relationship abuse, whether it is physical, mental or emotional, and how it affects people. They get out of their comfort zones and push each other down the road to healing.

Samantha might not have been expecting to fall for anyone, especially a man she meets in a bar on vacation. But she meets John, a handsome gentleman that falls for her immediately. Samantha is still healing, but as their friendship blooms so does love. Such an amazing story! A great story from start to finish, one that will keep you engrossed until the end. I love the way the author incorporates real life problems into the story and helps you to relate to each character. A beautiful love story! Please go check it out! You will not be disappointed!!!!!

“Behind the Title ~ The Creation of a Love Story” ~~Cynthia Roberts~~

Author Photo

Creating romantic fiction has been a passion of mine, ever since I was old enough to understand the connection between the sexes. I think I was twelve, when I wrote my first love story and like most young minds; I truly thought it was a masterpiece.

There’s another masterful connection that has been going on now for centuries, and that, is the one between music and literature. There is a full alphabet of songs that have been written retelling a work of literature as far back as the 18 th century.

“If I Die Young” by The Band Perry was based on a poem, Lady of Shallot. “Love Story” by Taylor Swift is loosely based on Romeo & Juliet. The artist Sting’s “Moon Over Bourbon Street” was based on an Anne Rice Novel, Interview With A Vampire.

More interesting though, the anatomy of a song has also within its lyrics a pretty fascinating back story as well. For more than five decades, authors have been creating fictional pieces and bringing readers deep inside the lyrics. I grew up listening to my mom’s collection of romantic ballads from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Those lyrics have forever been embossed into my brain, I still sing along whenever I hear them. Lyrics like those back then told a story, and they were so strong, and emotional, their affect were everlasting.

I have a library of love songs on iTunes I listen to religiously, while I write, as a source of inspiration and a tool that gets me in the mood and mindset I need to be in. It is from this list, I began to formulate a series of ideas, followed by cryptic notes on paper, and finally the creation of my Love Song Standards Series. I made a list of the songs I connected with personally, whittling it down to thirty-five. That number was quite overwhelming and I thought virtually impossible to create that many scenarios.

So, I chipped away at the songs and their lyrics, until I decided on a top ten. I had made a commitment to myself to finish one book a month throughout 2016, writing a chapter every day, leaving me ample time to polish and edit each one. I knew from the on-start, what I wanted my covers to look like. They had to resemble each other in a way that would tie them together, but strong enough for them to stand on their own. My designer Covers by Ramona did an exceptional job tying all my ideas together.

After Book 6, Chances Are, was completed, my brain was fried. I took a short reprieve and switched it up a bit with a Romantic Suspense, A Pawn for Malice. Happily, the first two books of my series received a 5-Star Readers Favorite Award, which ended my promotion efforts. I was forced to take an extended break due to personal issues that had set me back both physically and emotionally.

My focus now is to both promote my series and finish the final four titles All The Way, It’s Impossible, Sincerely, and Unforgettable. If you’re a lover of contemporary romance, please do check out my Love Song Standards Series. I know you’ll be pleasantly pleased. Buy links and descriptions are available on my website:

If you subscribe to my mailing list, we can stay in touch as to when the other titles are completed PLUS you’ll receive a complimentary copy of Book 1, Unchained Melody. All that I ask is for you to please, please share an honest review at the online retailer you use most. It will help me dramatically towards promoting my book and the series.

Hugs from me to you.

“Can’t Buy Forever” ~Susan Laffoon~ Review

In the early 1950s, Odessa Drake (Dessa) is rescued from a bleak existence with a single mother. She takes a chance on the unknown to work in a boarding house owned by a widowed great aunt in Mineville, New York. Dessa is devoted to Aunt Flo and especially a young man, Nicholas, who appears and takes shelter in the attic, the only available space. Four years pass. She looks forward to each day because of his presence, in spite of the tedious work. Dessa is now eighteen and knows little more of Nicholas than the day he arrived to work the mines. She knows only he is a remarkable man who has a limp and she trusts Nicholas explicitly. There is a familiarity both recognize and an unshakeable bond develops. Nicholas has reasons to keep his past buried. Dangers loom and become evident when Nicholas gets too close and exposes their bond. What is the mystery behind this threat? To discover the answer, they escape by railway heading West, colliding with treachery and uncovering secrets, mile by mile. Their journey is impossible, but, they are supported by friends who risk their lives to make sure a great love and lineage is preserved. Or is it? None will forget their odyssey as they proceed to their destiny farther than they imagined.

Susan Laffoon knows whereof she writes having been raised in Glens Falls, in upstate
New York. There, the Hudson River and the boulders that lie in its path, is Cooper’s Cave, a hide-a-way made famous in James Fedimore Cooper’s novel, ‘Drums Along The Mohawk.’ She visited this impressive attraction often growing up and listened to the rushing waters that echoed in the cave. There she decided to one day write romantic adventures. Thus as a young girl, while friends played with dolls, she imagined and scribbled stories of adventure to escape childhood responsibilities and unhappiness. She continued to journal through the years occupied with her husband, Gregg, and seven children. It was discovered her love of storytelling was predisposed from a Scandinavian father who died young, a journalist for the Denver Post, a half century earlier. This passion is being fulfilled by his daughter, since putting aside her stethoscope and career as a registered nurse. “Writing has always been in the shadow of my heart.”

This book transports you back to a different time, a different way of life. A love story like no other. Nessa and Nicholas meet by chance when she takes a job at her aunt’s boarding house. He comes to town to work as a miner, but ends up falling for Nessa. When they first meet she is only 14, too young to have an appropriate relationship but she trusts him in ways she has never trusted anyone before.

After 4 years, things change and a love grows stronger. But when trouble comes knocking on the door for Nicholas, they must take a chance on each other and run away to safety. Through a lot of twists and turns, can these two make it? You’ll have to check it out for yourself!!!! 🙂

The author makes it an exciting adventure of love, loss and forgiveness. It’s full of what if’s and an exciting journey to a life of happiness. I enjoyed this book and the way the author depicts her characters. It was as if you were right there in the story with them! Very well written and an interesting love story!

I appreciate getting the chance to read this book from the author! I received it for a fair and honest review! Thanks!!

“Wings of the Wind” ~Connilynn Cossette~ Review

Cossette Consistently Brings the Old Testament to Life in an Engrossing, Fresh New Way

Alanah, a Canaanite, is no stranger to fighting and survival. When her family is killed in battle with the Hebrews, she disguises herself and sneaks onto the battlefield to avenge her family. The one thing she never counted on was surviving.

Tobiah, a Hebrew warrior, is shocked to find an unconscious, wounded woman among the Canaanite casualties. Compelled to bring her to a Hebrew healer back at their camp, he is soon confronted with a truth he can’t ignore: the only way to protect this enemy is to marry her.

Unused to being weak and vulnerable, Alanah submits to the marriage–for now. As she comes to know and respect Tobiah and his people, however, she begins to second-guess her plans of escape. But when her past has painfully unanticipated consequences, the tentative peace she’s found with Tobiah, the Hebrews, and Yahweh is shaken to the core. Can Alanah’s fierce heart and strength withstand the ensuing threats to her life and all she’s come to love?

When she is not homeschooling her two sweet kids (with a full pot of coffee at hand),

Connilyn Cossette is scribbling notes on spare paper, mumbling about her imaginary

friends, and reading obscure, out-of-print history books. There is nothing she likes better

than digging into the rich, ancient world of the Bible and uncovering buried gems of

grace that point toward Jesus. Although a Pacific Northwest native, she now lives near

Dallas, Texas. Connect with her at www.connilyncossette.com.

I have never read a book from this author before but I was super excited by the look of the front cover and the description! I was not disappointed in the least! She is an amazing author and even though this was the third book in the series it did not seem like it at all! It read as a stand alone book, it was not until later that I realized there were other books and they all link to this final book in the series. But that’s OK, because I plan on buying the first and second book!! It was that good!!! I have to have more!! 🙂

This book had me hooked from the very first page. A young woman raging off to battle dressed as a man?!?!?! She is out of her element but she is determined to avenge her father and brothers death. From that very first battle it flies through a lot of ups and downs. Just when I think poor Alanah (our main leading lady) finally is going to have a settled life, something crazy happens! Literally, the entire book this poor girl is fighting for her life for some reason or another! But she finds God in the midst of all the chaos and realizes that her life and the plan she had for it is not the way it will be. God has a magnificent plan for her life and it is so cool to see it play out!

This book is based on stories from the bible so bits of it are hard to understand, especially the heritages of the families and how they are all interrelated and why they can attack certain places and not others. The names in this book are really hard to pronounce, so I came up with nicknames for all of them lol! 😉 BUT, despite all of this it does not take away from the story! If you can get over large words and a bit of complicated lineage (which if you read the bible, it can get kind of confusing keeping everyone straight too!) you will not regret reading this book! It is such a fantastic read and the characters are so well developed and the things that happen to them make each and every one of them so much stronger! A great message and a great story! I can not wait to read other books by this author!!

I received this book for a fair and honest review.

“Talking With God” ~Adam Weber~ Review

Life is crazy. Prayer is simple.

Prayer seems like it should be so simple. Yet when it comes to actually praying, it often feels awkward and complicated.

I mean, what should you actually pray about? What do you say? Is there anything you should or shouldn’t say? Do you have to speak out loud? Where do you even start?

To make matters worse, we’ve heard about prayer for so long that we feel awkward asking about it. It’s like having to ask a person’s name after knowing them for years. We’re embarrassed to ask because we really should know their name by now.

Then comes the reality and craziness of life. Between work, parenting, walking the dog, a full inbox, keeping up on social media—who has time to pray?

The truth is, prayer is simple.

It’s like talking; talking with a good friend.  Here’s the best part: No matter where we are in life, God can’t wait to talk with us.

What does it look like to pray in the midst of your life?
What do you say when you don’t know how to pray?

I’m asking the same questions. Let’s talk.

ADAM WEBER is the Founder and Lead Pastor of Embrace, a church that has six campuses in two states. He likes typewriters, drives a Rambler, cheers for the Cincinnati Bengals, and has four chickens and a dog named Daisy. Adam, his beautiful wife, Becky, and their kids live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.. Fun fact: He once made worldwide news when a turkey vulture fell out of the sky and onto his back porch during an ice storm. Google it.

Wow! This is such an inspirational book that is full of great scriptures and great ways to help you with your prayers. We all prayer differently and sometimes we struggle to find the right words to say or the right way to say it. Well this book breaks it down for you…God listens, irregardless of how you say it or when you say it he is listening. This book really opens up the reality of how much we get caught up in the correct way of doing things, there is no right or wrong way to pray. Talk to God, talk to him as if he is your best friend sitting in front of you. Don’t be embarrassed or shy, he is there waiting to here your voice.

Read this book, read this book now! It is so good! I am one of those people that I just randomly talk to God through out the entire day, pray for my family and others at the most random times of day. But it’s OK and this book really walks you through the fact that it’s OK to not know how to pray, it’s OK to not know how to start or finish a prayer. Just walk through it in your own time and trust in Him to lead you through it.

I loved this quote from the book…

“Even followers of Jesus- the people who hung out with Jesus himself- didn’t have prayer figured out.”

“I’ll go out on a limb and say that the majority of “everyone else” doesn’t have prayer figured out either. They have questions. They feel unqualified or inadequate. They avoid prayer altogether. After all, how do you talk with the Creator of the entire universe without feeling a little intimidated.”

I loved this book and will definitely be reading again in the future. I recommend it to everyone!!!!
