When do you decorate for Christmas?

When is the appropriate time to decorate for Christmas? Is there such a thing? I know there are those out there that can’t wait to decorate and start listening to Christmas music and then there are others like my brother-in-law that hates any signs of Christmas before December 1st. I call him Mr. Grinch.

My husband tolerates my need to decorate the day of Thanksgiving. It’s a tradition, and one my family has participated in for years. It’s just what we do. This year we are spending the week of Christmas in Colorado, a first for us, and I felt like Christmas needed to come a tad bit early in this house this year. πŸ˜‰

When I say early, I mean I put up and decorated my tree the first week of November. I rationalized it as we won’t be here to enjoy it the week of, so we need to put it up a tad bit earlier than usual lol! He was less than enthused but my boys and I did all of the work, so he wasn’t too angry about it! πŸ™‚

I am always taking down the tree the day after Christmas so all in all it is not a crazy amount of time that we keep up decorations. I know some people that decorate before Thanksgiving and don’t take them down til well after the new year.

When do you put up your tree/decorations? What are your thoughts on putting up decorations early? What is too early? Do you go all out: lights, tree, tinsel, blow-up yard ornaments, etc???

I have always wanted to decorate the outside of our house but we have such an ancient house that the one time we tried it ended up blowing the breaker over and over again! It was an exciting first Christmas in this house. We have since learned our lesson and only do the decorating indoors. I can’t wait for Christmas! It’s my favorite! πŸ™‚

Wishing you a happy Christmas decorating if you haven’t done so yet! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

P.S. We are also super excited that LUIGI our Elf on the Shelf will be making an appearance in a few days!!!
