Blacklisted in the photography business over a controversial shot, Avery Tate answered an ad for a crime scene photographer. She expected to be laughed at, but crime scene analyst Parker Mitchell hired her outright–and changed her life. But six months ago, when her feelings for Parker became too strong, she left his employ to sort out her heart.
Now, for the first time, Avery is facing the world that rejected her to attend the gallery opening of a photography exhibit and support her best friend, who modeled for the show. But the only image of her friend is a chilling photo of her posing as if dead–and the photographer insists he didn’t take the shot. Worse, her friend can’t be found. She immediately calls Parker for help. As Avery, Parker, and his friends in law enforcement dig into the mystery, they find themselves face-to-face with a relentless and deadly threat.
This is the 2nd book in the series which sometimes can make it difficult to keep things straight. But with this book the author keeps you in the loop and explains, in appropriate places, what you might have missed from the first book. This is an excellent book and reading the first book would have only made the experience that much more amazing! Even without reading the first book, this was a great read and I highly recommend it! It kept me interested from the very beginning!
There are a lot of characters in the story but they are all well defined and they are intermingled in such a way that you can’t help but want more from the story. I found myself imagining their backgrounds, dissecting each of their lives and trying to figure out who the suspect of the story was. The suspense is killer and following them along the trail to find Skylar and trying to figure out if she is dead or alive keeps the pages turning at a fast pace!
The chemistry happening between Declan and Tanner and also Avery and Parker are adorable and you can’t help but root for them to get together and make a go of a serious relationship. They each have a past that is hard to deal with that causes them relationship issues but they should be together! They are meant for each other! 😉 It really is a great story of getting through a hardship by finding comfort in the ones that you love, even if you don’t realize that you love that person! It is a great mystery novel with a splash of romance thrown in, ultimately a great read!
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
