~Mike Nappa~ “The Raven” Review

“A thrill ride into the stark territory between grace and the letter of the law.”—Tosca Lee,New York Times bestselling author

As part of his regular street performance, a deception specialist who goes by the name The Raven picks his audience’s pockets while they watch. It’s harmless fun—until he decides to keep the spare wallet a city councilman doesn’t seem to miss, hoping for a few extra bucks. When he finds not money but compromising photos of the councilman and his “personal assistants,” The Raven hatches a plan to blackmail the man. However, he quickly finds himself in over his head with the Ukrainian Mafia and mired in a life-threatening plot code-named, “Nevermore.”

Private investigators Trudi Coffey and Samuel Hill must scramble to sort out the clues—and their complicated feelings for each other—to rescue The Raven and save hundreds of lives from a wildcard bent on revenge.

Mike Nappa snags readers from the first page of this fast-paced thriller—and he never lets go until the end.

The Mafia, magic and mystery. What else could you ask for right??? A great start to a great mysterious story. The “Raven” is in trouble, his magic gone wrong, he has messed with the wrong people. The “Raven” is a man of magic, using his magic tricks to pick pockets and unfortunately picks the pockets of the wrong man and gets himself into trouble.

The way this book started out was very confusing, I’m not a fan of books that flip back and forth between past and present and between different people. Despite it’s rocky beginning it was definitely a book to continue until the end. It definitely has its ups and downs and the integration and relationships between the characters make it a worthwhile book to read! I didn’t realize at the time that this was a book in a series, so that explains the confusion that I had!! So if I would have read the first book in the series it would have made it even better!

Trudi and Samuel are a great character team! They are an ex-husband/wife team that tries hard to work together to catch the bad guys! They are hilariously cute and funny in their own right! The “Raven”  wasn’t the greatest character, a little snarky and annoying for my taste but fits the character and the flow of the story. Definitely some great characters throughout the entire book! Would definitely have liked to read the first book so I had a little more information on the characters but overall it is a great book. I would recommend checking out the first book first!!!

I received this book from Revell Publishing House in exchange for a fair and honest review!
