Neuropsychologist Offers Hope to Those Struggling with Depression
As a board-certified neuropsychologist, Dr. Michelle Bengtson sees the devastation of depression. Early on, she practiced the most effective treatments and prescribed them for her clients. But when she experienced depression herself, she found that the treatments she had recommended were lacking. Her experience showed her the missing component in treating depression.
In Hope Prevails, Dr. Bengtson writes with deep compassion, blending her training and faith, to offer readers a hope grounded in God’s love and grace. She helps readers understand what depression is, how it affects them spiritually, and what, by God’s grace, it cannot do. The result is an approach that offers the hope of release, not just the management of symptoms.
For those who struggle with depression and those who want to help them, Hope Prevails offers hope for the future.

If you are anyone that you know is suffering from depression, then this book is for you! Even if you are not struggling with depression, it is still a great read! It is a profound book from someone who knows first hand that the struggle is real and sometimes hard to manage on your own.
The book begins with a letter addressed to “my depressed self” from the author herself. It is an eye-opening, remember you are loved and not alone, and don’t give up kind of letter. Then in the following chapters she breaks down the barriers of fear, rejection and non-understanding for those all involved in the world of depression. She defines the word depression and then she explains the underlying causes of it and how you can recognize your enemy. She makes it perfectly clear that depression happens, its everywhere, but we are not alone, we have God. He sees us, he sees the mess that we can be, and he experiences our joys with us.
One of her chapters is completely about finding your joy. Rediscover and reclaim that joy!
“The enemy uses three primary tactics against us”
“According to John 10:10, he steals, kills and destroys whatever opposes his kingdom of darkness.”
So lets fight this enemy! Let us rediscover our joys and purpose!
Great inspirational book that is loaded full of emotions, information and the good Lord!
Will definitely be recommending!!
